Kings View Chambers continues to achieve successful outcomes for nurses facing NMC fitness to practise investigations and hearings.

The first case relates to an NMC interim order case where the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) brought a number of allegations on the basis of an anonymous referral and further allegations about acting outside of guidelines.

Acting for the nurse in this case, Kings View argued that the necessity test was not met and were successful.

NMC fitness to practise defence barrister, Catherine Stock, said:

“This case highlights the need for early legal advice as once an interim order is in place, it is much more difficult to vary or revoke and it can be in place for a long time, in many cases past the 18 months initially stated.

“This case further highlights 2 issues namely the pitfalls of working in specialist areas where guidelines are not clear and the pitfalls of advertising your own services.”

Our client commented:

“Absolutely brilliant firm. Highly recommend.

“Catherine worked tirelessly with me through my case. Her expertise is second to none. The dedication and care is amazing. Not only is Catherine a brilliant lawyer, but her ability to support and get me through the whole ordeal was incredible. I couldn’t have done it without her. Thank you so much.”

In the second case, Kings View Chambers were successful in achieving a no case to answer at the NMC’s Case Examiners stage.

In relation to this case, Catherine Stock commented:

“This case demonstrates the importance of early insight, reflection, and targeted remediation. It is crucial to accept when things have gone wrong and be open and honest about it.

“Case Examiners not only make decisions based on the allegations themselves but also on current impairment and so if you can clearly demonstrate remediation the case can be appropriately concluded at this stage in proceedings.”

Our client thanked Kings View saying:

“The service provided was excellent. The outcome of the case was a delightful. Thank you to Catherine.”
